Marketing Concepts by Harriett created Child Safety Day in 2007 with the help of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department as a Stranger/Danger community education tool in response to the rescue of Shawn Hornbeck and Ben Owenby from a Kirkwood, Missouri apartment complex. Since that time, Child Safety Day has evolved and focuses on all the things that pertain to the safety of children. The core components of Child Safety Day are: Child care, Communication, Education, Entertainment, Financial, Health, Home, Legal, Pets and Transportation.
